Transforming Community Media

The Challenge

When Outlook Ohio Magazine first launched in 1996 as Outlook News, it faced the challenge of providing consistent, quality content for Ohio's GLBT and allied community. The publication needed to cover diverse topics from local news to national issues while maintaining an engaging voice that resonated with readers across the state.

With limited resources and a growing audience, the magazine needed to evolve its format and distribution to meet reader expectations while staying true to its mission of serving the community.

We worked closely with Outlook Media to transform their local newspaper into a comprehensive monthly magazine that could serve the entire state. Our solution involved:

Redesigning the format from newspaper to magazine style

About Outlook Ohio Magazine

Outlook Ohio Magazine is a free, monthly publication that is released on the first day of each month. Geared for the GLBT & allied community, it's content contains both locally and nationally focused features with a mix of columns, editorials, arts & entertainment, politics, sports, celebrity interviews and community news.

The publication started in 1996 as a newspaper for the Columbus area called Outlook News. Since then, the magazine has grown from a newspaper, to a tabloid weekly to it's current form as a monthly magazine and continues to be Outlook Media's flagship publication.
